Ferry Mans Cottage by the lake

Ferry Man’s Cottage offers guests an exclusive self contained lakeside retreat set in it’s own private 12 acre section at the very end of Birds Ferry Road, forming part of our 33 acre property. Located on the edge of a small Lake, 2 km from the highway and, with native Wekas, Pukekos and wild ducks as neighbors this is a most peaceful spot. The Kiwi (bird) can be heard at night here.
This luxurious Holiday Home is ideally located, midway between the West Coast glaciers and Nelson/Picton, makes it the perfect spot to break your journey on the West Coast.
The solid timber cottage is finished to a very high standard and designed to take in the panoramic mountain and ocean views- all the luxury touches of Birds Ferry Lodge but with a fully equipped kitchen in your own very private setting. Luxurious interiors are warmed by a roaring fire and radiators meaning the cottage is cosy at all times of the year. There is a TV, DVD player (with DVDs) for those who would miss one and a cd player, magazines and games. Cell phone reception is usually good here.
The cottage has decks and outdoor furniture back and front meaning you can enjoy the sunshine at any time of the day - especially those famous West Coast sunsets over the ocean. By the front deck there is an OUTDOOR BATH with HOT RUNNING WATER from where you can watch the sun go down in spectacular fashion. All cottage rooms have screened windows.
A fully equipped kitchen includes microwave, oven, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. A BBQ is also provided. Your tariff includes a welcome breakfast hamper - homemade museli, bread and preserves, bacon or local sausages, our own free range eggs, milk, tea and ground coffee. New for Summer 2007-8 - the cottage now has its very own herb garden from where you can pick a range of herbs to use in the kitchen.
