This secluded rural setting is conveniently located on a 24 acre woodlot, midway between Heriot Bay and Quathiaski Cove on Quadra Island. These private homes both have a wood stove, full kitchen and bathrooms, queen beds and sleeps 4 - 6.
‘In the forest’ is an 860 sq foot all wood building featuring 3 south facing skylights on the vaulted ceiling offering bright, cheerful light to the kitchen and living room. There are two bedrooms with queen size beds and a futon in the living room for extra sleeping.
Large windows in all rooms offer a view of the fern blanketed forest; peaceful, wild and inviting. For the romantic ‘get away’ there is an outdoor bathtub off the master bedroom deck. The quite wild setting is inviting to deer and birds.
‘In the meadow’ is a larger timber frame, post and beam vacation home with vaulted ceiling in the main living area and a wall of windows fills the interior with natural daylight. The 800 sq. foot main floor includes a spacious entryway, bedroom with double bed, bathroom, kitchen, dining and living areas.
The 600 sq. foot upper level contains the main bedroom with queen size bed, a second bathroom and a loft. A futon in the loft provides an extra sleeping option for 2 people. Heated tile floors in the bathroom provide a treat for your feet! Beautiful art work, photos and artifacts from the owners’ travels through Asia and Central and South America add character and interest to this family friendly home.
Big Tree Cottage offers privacy, comfort and quality close to beaches, village stores, bike rentals, boat rentals, and restaurants. Both homes are pet friendly, including horses and non-smoking.
Can easily tour south Quadra island by bicycle, walking trails lead directly from this property to surrounding vistas. Horse trails and outdoor adventures are abundant.

Description of area/town/village
|
Secluded, mature forest setting on the west coast of beautiful British Columbia. Bird songs, deer and wolves are part of the natural experience.
This pristine, secluded and private setting is conveniently located on a 24 acre woodlot, midway between Heriot Bay and Quathiaski Cove on Quadra Island. ‘In the forest’ cottage is set 260 meters off the main road deep in the heart of the mature evergreen forest. ‘In the meadow’ cottage is also secluded with an open setting surrounded by vegetable garden and lawn.
The mature forest offers the reinvigorating effects of negative ions. These odorless, tasteless, and invisible molecules are believed to produce biochemical reactions that increase levels of the mood chemical, serotonin, helping to alleviate depression, relieve stress, and boost daytime energy. But this isn’t the only beneficial effect of spending time in the forest. The beauty and ‘silence’ of nature surrounds the cottage and there is an outdoor bathtub where one can soak it all up.
These private, comfortable and quality accommodations are close to beaches, village stores, bicycle rentals, boat rentals, and restaurants. Both homes are pet friendly, including accommodations for horses and are non-smoking.
Big Tree Cottage is a 15-minute bicycle ride from ferry connections to Campbell River on Vancouver Island or Cortes Island. South Quadra Island is lovely for riding and the north island opens to a large inland lake system.
